Burning in the mouth? Don’t hold it in
“It hurts so much…should I just live with it?”

My tongue is burning and my mouth is burning.
and you’re always told “everything is fine” at the doctor’s office.
you’re not alone.
Burning mouth is a real condition
and if the cause is properly identified, recovery can be expected.
hello
Researching and treating autonomic nerves
Dr. Sangchul Hwang, who studies and treats autonomic nerves.
Many of the patients who come to my office
have already been through several hospitals.
MRIs, CTs, blood tests,
Sjögren’s syndrome tests.
only to be told, “There’s nothing wrong with you.”
Taking Ribotril, various nutritional supplements,
but her symptoms remained the same.
Even the
“Just suck it up and live with it”
Some people were in tears when they heard this.
That’s what hurts me the most.
What is a burning mouth?

Burning mouth sensation
burning, tingling, stinging, or irritation of the tongue, gums, roof of the mouth, or mucous membranes of the mouth
burning, stinging, soreness, or abnormal sensations
on the tongue, gums, and mucous membranes.
On the outside
little inflammation or scarring is visible.
Typical symptoms include
- The tip of my tongue is burning
- I have a burning sensation in my mouth
- Tastes metallic, bitter
- Worse at night
- Worsens under stress
How is it different from Sjogren’s syndrome?

They are often confused because the symptoms are similar.
But there’s a clear difference.
Sjögren’s syndrome is an
is an autoimmune disease
and is characterized by dry mouth and eyes
joint pain, and generalized fatigue.
Blood tests can also detect
autoantibodies are often detected in blood tests.
A burning mouth sensation
No visible signs of inflammation
blood tests often show no obvious abnormalities.
Ribotril, it might help

If you take ribotril or
using it as a gargle
Some people experience a temporary reduction in pain.
But it doesn’t work for everyone.
It helps when symptoms are severe, but
long-term use
side effects such as drowsiness, lethargy, and difficulty concentrating.
For fundamental improvements
a different approach is required.
Two main causes of burning mouth
There are two main causes that I see most often in clinical practice.

1. stress – overactive nervous system
- Sensitive nature
- Bloating, indigestion
- Cold hands and feet
I see this a lot in people who have this trait.
Cranial nerves and autonomic nerves are out of balance, causing
the tongue and mouth become overly sensitive.
2. occurring after dental treatment
- Implants
- Neurotherapy
- Wisdom tooth extraction
Symptoms often start later.
During the anesthesia process, when the mouth is open for a long time
the jaw joint and surrounding muscles are strained
local nerves are irritated and symptoms begin.
I don’t just treat tongues
I have a sore tongue.
Why not just treat the tongue?
The sensations and movements of the tongue
all start with nerves in your head.

Treating the tongue alone
did not have a high cure rate.
So I’ve decided that
the tongue itself
the nerve flow to the head, temporal, jaw, and cervical spine
nerve flow in the head, temporal, jaw, and cervical spine.
Major nerves involved in the tongue
- Trigeminal nerve → responsible for sensation on the front of the tongue
- Glossopharyngeal nerve → responsible for sensation at the back of the tongue and pharynx
- Vagus nerve → Throat and bronchial control
- Dysphagia → Tongue movement control

These nerves all
head and run to the tongue.
When you release tension in your head, neck, and shoulders
tongue sensation and function can also be restored.
Constitution and posture, they must go hand in hand
When I see patients with burning mouth, there are a number of common characteristics
there are some common characteristics.

- Severely strained trapezius muscles
- Turtle neck, straight neck posture
Tight muscles
can block nerve circulation to the head and tongue.
Take a look in the mirror and check it out.
- Isn’t your head falling forward?
- Are your shoulders always up?
This can also be a significant contributor.

Final thoughts
“No cause.”
“Just suck it up and live with it.”
I’ve had too many patients come in
too many patients
But let’s be clear.
A burning mouth sensation
always has a cause.
And then there’s the direction of care.
Correct nerve flow
and relaxation
and the right treatment for your constitution
you can get well enough.
